The Bundeswehr has chosen to procure eight MQ-9B SeaGuardian. The first systems are scheduled for delivery starting in 2028.
With its long range, high endurance, advanced maritime sensor capabilities for maritime reconnaissance and submarine hunting and certification for operations in general airspace, the MQ-9B SeaGuardian will expand Germany's future capabilities in the field of maritime security.
The procurement is part of General Atomics' long-standing commitment to Germany. For over 30 years, the General Atomics Europe Group has been active in Germany with several companies in the fields of aeronautics, infrastructure, and sustainability—including as NH90 maintenance center in Oberpfaffenhofen and as OEM partner for the Do228 environmental monitoring aircraft, which is operated by the German Navy on behalf of the Central Command for Maritime Emergencies.
